Pesticide Makers Shudder At Thought Of Eating Food Undrenched In Poison
(Factory Food Business)
It would seem the Mid America CropLife Association (a.k.a. the Big Ag Pesticide Pushers) are a tad threatened at the fact that Michelle Obama has installed an organic vegetable garden at the White House.
I mean what the hell? People are going to notice, and what if they start asking questions about what “organic” is. I mean, Jesus Christ, all the major grocery chains are putting “organic” areas in their produce sections as it is. Next thing you know, bug spots on fruit will become socially acceptable and even Roundup sales will tank.
Thus CropLife Executive Director Bonnie McCarvel felt compelled to take action to nip this pest in the bud before it grows out of control, by pointing out to Mrs. Obama how patriotic it is to make sure that all American gardens be thoroughly dusted with organophosphates every few days.
And after sending out the smarmy, patronizing letter, McCarver e-blasted it to food chemical fans out across the Internet, with this Revere-esque warning:
Did you hear the news? The White House is planning to have an “organic” garden on the grounds to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the Obama’s and their guests. While a garden is a great idea, the thought of it being organic made Janet Braun, CropLife Ambassador Coordinator and I shudder. As a result, we sent a letter encouraging them to consider using crop protection products and to recognize the importance of agriculture to the entire U.S. economy.
OK, well, you’ve convinced me, Bonnie. I’ll take a double methyl parathion hot pepper prophylactic any day if I can zap the bug-bite spots and give a big patriotic boost to the entire U.S. economy at the same time, merely by preserving the culture of All-American corporate vegetable poisonings for future generations.
