Why Worry?
(Nature)
There should be sunshine after rain; there should be laughter after pain. These things have always been the same. So why worry now?
The CenterPoint Energy linesmen showed up Thursday and made short work of the big branch that had pinned our power line to the ground. Now it’s taut and high, and power has been restored to my cross-the-street neighbor whose line had unraveled when the big branch hit over here.
I’d expected to harvest a bumper crop of pecan nuts this year, but instead cut up nearly two cords of excellent pecan smoking wood to insure the future of barbecue.
Giant mounds of broken branches have been removed to the far reaches of the One-Acre Ranch to await county debris removal, and most of the grass has been freshly cut.
We still have a roof and some inside drywall to repair or replace, and there’s this little chink in the chain-link fence where one of the branches hit. Plus my back and shoulders are sore from doing mule work.
Other than that, Hurricane Ike is an increasingly distant memory.
