Stealing Back Time
(Work)
After taking nearly a year off to stay at home and raise kids, I'm starting up another business in preparation for probably the most ambitious web venture I've ever attempted. But it's slow going and I'm facing hurdles. The most difficult involves finding a way to take back some of the time I've been devoting to the kids. We've been lucky enough to find a great home daycare provider with whom Emily has hit it off. She's there for a few hours two days a week. That's my only uninterrupted work time thus far: from about 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. twice a week - 14 hours.
I steal back a little more time by getting up as often as possible by 4 a.m. This gives me another two hours each day I'm able to do it. The rest of the family tends to go to bed early, so if I can stay up past 9:30 or 10 in the evenings, I can swipe another hour or two. Usually that's about it if I was up at 4 that morning.
It's a start, but it's not nearly enough.
